How to get started lifting weights

It’s never too late to start lifting weights. When you sit in a chair, you squat. If you pick up a heavy box, you deadlift. When you put something into a high cupboard, you're doing an overhead press.

Don’t let the idea that you have to lift really heavy weights intimidate you or stop you from starting.

Here are 5 things I love about lifting weights:

  1. I can carry my daughters to bed

  2. It gives me a much-needed energy boost

  3. It strengthens my bones and joints

  4. It makes me feel strong

  5. It keeps me healthy and positive
